Ismail Kahraman, Head of Turkish National Assembly also congratulated the opening of the 11th International Bediuzzaman Symposium with a message as follows:
I would like to thank you for your kind invitation to the international symposium to commemorate Said Nursi, a great Muslim scholar of the 20th century who spent his life defending Belief against Disbelief and who always endeavored to spread the Truths of Islam.
Spreading the good and avoiding the evil should be the custom and practice of every Muslim. It is the primary duty of every Muslim to understand and explain correctly the religion of Islam which is desired by some to be shadowed by war, violence, terror and ignorance. It is of paramount importance to express Islam correctly under the light of the Qur’an and the Sunnah which has been projected in the recent years as the ideological basis for terror organisations such as Al-Qaeda, ISIS and FETO. We also need to identify the damage caused by the violence perpetuated by the terror organisations named above which result in a problematic view of Islam in people’s minds. This symposium attended by academicians from different parts of the world will be a suitable environment to describe the meaning of Islam in a comprehensible way.
The main problem of the Muslim world today is that it is distanced from the meaning of the Qur’an and the Sunnah which should be our main reference towards understanding this life and our roles in it. It provides us with both the correct material and immaterial perspectives so that we do not stray from the straight path. In our main sources the formula for happiness in both worlds is clearly stated. Enlightened muslim scholars such as Said Nursi have spent their efforts to guide humanity on this matter.
These symposiums have been organised since 1992, and I hope that this latest symposium organised by the Istanbul Foundation for Science and Culture will produce solutions to our current problems of humanity. I pray for a world where morality and justice prevail. I congratulate again those who have organised this symposium. I hope the programme to be a means of goodness and greet all participants to the symposium with peace and love.
