President Recep Tayyip Erdogan congratulated the opening of the 11th International Bediuzzaman Symposium with the following message:
Dear members of Istanbul Foundation for Science and Culture and dear guests. I greet you with my sincere affections and respect.
I hope that the 11th International Bediuzzaman Symposium will be successful and useful for our country and nation, and the whole world of Islam.
I find it extremely important that this year’s symposium has the title of “Positive Action: a faith service through the Guidance of the Quran and the Sunnah”. This is because I believe that the many difficulties, calamities and pains we, as Muslims, had to endure have been due to a lack of understanding the Qur’an and Sunnah correctly.
Thus we have seen terror organisations such as ISIS and FETO which have killed innocent people and left our region in blood and tears. Such groups have commonly abused sacred principles such as Jihad, Faith Service, and Charity. These deviant organisations which claim to serve religion and find ground in many countries have Muslims as their target.
The pains that we experienced in recent years have taught us that we have to learn our religion from sound sources and reliable scholars.
The life of Bediuzzaman, who never compromised his service to Allah, the people and the Qur’an despite all the exiles and pressures that he experienced is a great example in this regard. As Ustaz said “who has a great love undergoes a great examination and trial”.
God willing as long as we work collaboratively, trust in Allah and submit to truth there are no examinations we cannot pass.
With these thoughts I hope that the 11th Bediuzzaman Symposium will be a means for goodness and so I send you my regards.
