The 14th Traditional International Graduate Conference in Arabic Was Held

07.09.2025

The 14th edition of the traditional International Graduate Conference, organized by the Istanbul Foundation for Science and Culture (IIKV), was held in Barla.

The conference brought together young academics from more than eight countries, including Morocco, Algeria, Yemen, Iraq, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Syria. The program aimed to encourage participants to study and analyze the Risale-i Nur Collection at an academic level.

The event commenced with an opening speech by İİKV President Said Yüce. In his remarks, Yüce highlighted the significance of the Risale-i Nur, authored by Bediüzzaman Said Nursî in Barla during a period of severe oppression against religion. He emphasized how Nursî and his students sought to protect the fortress of faith against the currents of unbelief that had emerged from the West over the last two centuries.

Prof. Dr. Ammar Cidal from Algeria also spoke at the opening. He underlined the sincerity of Nursî’s first students, who, under extremely difficult circumstances, wrote, copied, and disseminated the Risale-i Nur without expecting any reward. He noted that their selfless dedication had allowed these valuable works to reach later generations.

Throughout the six-day program, participants’ master’s and doctoral theses were discussed, reviewed, and refined under the supervision of distinguished senior scholars. The conference provided young researchers with the opportunity to gain methodological and intellectual insights from experts, while also exploring theological and ethical issues through contemporary academic approaches.

The “Arabic Graduate Conference Program,” organized annually by IIKV, once again offered a platform for graduate students from the Arab world to deepen their understanding of the Risale-i Nur and to exchange ideas in an international academic setting.
