Historic Summit in Aleppo: The Future of the Islamic World Sought in Quranic Solutions
At the international symposium titled "Quranic Solutions in a World of Crises" held in Aleppo, Syria, the way out of the material and spiritual crises experienced by the Islamic world was discussed through the universal principles of the Holy Quran. The opening session, held on March 31, 2026, at the Amphitheater of the Institute of Scientific Heritage at Aleppo University, became a historic step for academic cooperation in the region.

Said Yüce: "What the Islamic World Needs is the Construction of Hope and Will" Said Yüce, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Istanbul Foundation for Science and Culture (İİKV), placed the crisis of values experienced by the Islamic world and its solution at the center of his speech. Noting that although modern man's means have increased, his heart remains restless, Yüce stated, "What the Islamic world needs most is hope, a correct system of thought, and the will to rebuild. By saying, 'Belief is both light and power,' Bediüzzaman Said Nursi has provided Muslims with an unshakable will to overcome the crises they face."

Giving optimistic messages regarding the future of the region, Yüce emphasized that the symposium represents a vision supported by political and academic will, stating, "The strong will displayed by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Syrian President Ahmed Şara will make our societies one and whole, and will make our region the leading countries of the Islamic world."

The Source of Crises: "A Civilization that Glorifies the Market, Not the Human" Speaking at the opening of the symposium, Prof. Dr. Mahmud Mısrî from the Daru’l-İrfan Foundation drew attention to the fundamental problem of modern materialistic civilization: "Material civilization today glorifies everything, except the human being. At the center of the system are not values, but market interests and greed for profit. This situation turns humanity into tools whose will has been taken away and whose thoughts have been numbed." Stating that the way out of these crises for the Islamic world is to re-establish the bond between revelation and reason, Mısrî emphasized that Bediüzzaman Said Nursi's works serve as a "Quranic pharmacy" in this regard.
The Mission of Universities: "Carrying Ancient Values to the Modern Age" Aleppo University Rector Prof. Dr. Muhammed Üsame Ra’dun reminded that universities are not merely educational institutions: "The Quran is not a text confined to time; it is a method of life. The greatest duty of our universities today is to reinterpret these ancient values with a scientific language and academic vision that will produce solutions to the challenges of our age."

Faith and Will for the Solution Stating that faith is not merely a belief in the hereafter but a "key to peace" to eliminate fears and sorrows in the world, Münir Turan said, "The key to salvation from the swamp of uncertainty into which modern man has fallen is the Quranic perspective offered by the Risale-i Nur." Prof. Dr. İbrahim Şaşo, Dean of the Faculty of Theology, emphasized that the symposium is a milestone for academic cooperation in the Islamic geography.

The Continuation of the Symposium is Planned for Istanbul Said Yüce, Chairman of the İİKV Board of Trustees, concluded his speech by expressing his satisfaction with the success of the symposium. Proposing to hold the second of this meaningful gathering in Istanbul, Yüce conveyed his thanks to the Rector of Aleppo University and all Darul-İrfan officials for their hospitality.
